Description

Determination of the temperature at which non-rigid plastics break brittle under defined impact conditions. The device consists of two components: The drop tower and the cooling unit. The temperature is set directly on the cooling unit using a button. The cooling unit works with a continuously running, ozone-friendly compressor and an electronic heater, via which the temperature is precisely controlled. The sample holder with anti-floating protection for the sample residues is inserted into the cooling basin. The impact hammer is accelerated to 2 m/s in free fall via a mechanical trigger and hits the specimens. A drop mass of 15 kg and thus an energy of approx. 30 joules ensures that the speed remains constant during the entire impact period.
